The French Connection

Recently watching an episode of the TV show “Who Am I”, the actor Jim Parsons from Big Bang Theory, wanted to trace his fathers ancestry.  In order to make for more interesting TV they quickly switched over to the maternal side of his family.  This was then traced from New Orleans on to France, where a distant relative worked for the King and had tea with Benjamin Franklin and John Adams.

This got me thinking about tracing a maternal line of the Alexander Family.  In a Guntersville newspaper article published a year after his death in 1948, my fathers grandfather B.V. Alexander, indicated his mother was Mary Johnson and her mother was Sallie Sublett.   After a few short days of researching Sallie Sublet I hit the Jackpot.  In 1963 the Detroit Society for Genealogical research published a series of articles by  Cameron Allen on the family titled ” The Sublett (Soblet) Family of Manakintown, King William Parish, Virginia”.  In the 1980’s these articles along with updates were published in book form.

After purchasing the book and skimming through the pages it documents the families migration through France all the way to Mary Johnson marrying into the Alexander Family.
